Young Voices

Tip for Week of December 13, 2010

Contrary to popular belief, the young voice should be trained in the same manner as the adult. The difference being that the pitch will generally be higher. Bad habits such as shallow breathing and external straining should be closely monitored. Of course, the young singer will generally have a less sophisticated musical ear and may need simpler material to work with. Less chromatic melodies, and melodies without huge range leaps may be more suitable.
