An interesting Observation on The GEE exercise

I have observed that my students that struggle with untreated reflux disease consistently have a burning sensation while doing the GEE exercise (esp with the cry). My husband ( ENT) said that those with reflux issues often have swelling and irritation on the arytenoid muscles in the vocalis. When a student complains or struggles with this exercise I usually ask them how their voice is in the morning. I also ask about stress, etc. I then ask if they have ever been diagnosed with reflux issues. If they have an active prescription I encourage them to resume taking their medication. If there has been no diagnosis I encourage them to see an ENT. Every student I have sent to be evaluated has come back with a reflux diagnosis. I am just wondering if any other teachers have had a similar experience?
